About Our Congregation
We have a both a long history of church presence in the Sedalia area, and a "new church" feel. The congregation of Trinity Lutheran was organized over 100 years ago -- rooted in tradition and commitment to community service. Christ Lutheran was organized in 1960 with a vision for mission - using "modern technology" (that would be radio back then) to reach out with the Gospel message to those who did not have a church family.
At the beginning of the 21st century, we ushered in a new era of unity and community outreach by consolidating into one congregation as "Christ & Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church." In Christ's name we worship, learn, and serve.
We are a church family committed to God's mission in the world, working in partnership with other churches:
- With 12 other ELCA congregations in central and northeast Missouri, we are part of Area Ministry 9, and together we sponsor Mid-Mo Bible Camp at Lake of the Ozarks.
- With over 200 other ELCA congregations in Kansas and Missouri, we are part of Central States Synod, and together we equip men and women for leadership and service in church and community.
- We have a "sister" congregation in Nitra, Slovakia, and Central States Synod has companion synods in Papua New Guinea and in Russia and other states.
- We are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, supporting Lutheran colleges and seminaries; training and sending missionaries, pastors, and professional church workers; helping all people discern their God-given gifts, empowering and equipping them through worship and daily Bible reading for their "ministry in daily life".
- Through ELCA World Hunger Appeal, Lutheran Disaster Response, Lutheran World Relief, and Stand With Africa we work with partners in over 50 countries to help people grow food, improve health, strengthen communities, end conflict, build livelihoods, and recover from disaster.
- As ONE Lutherans we join Bono and others around the world in making a difference one voice, one vote, one dollar at a time—to address the HIV/AIDS crisis and world poverty.

As a member of the ELCA, we have a traditional (though somewhat casual and informal) style of liturgical worship. We are a church of the Word and Sacrament. All Christians are welcome to join us for Holy Communion at the Lord's Table. We would love to have YOU join us!
